Our condolences to the Cox family and the Topeka Fire Department of
Kansas. Captain Anthony Cox, 43, a 21 year veteran of the Topeka Fire
Department, died Monday August 13, 2007. Tony was operating at an early
evening two alarm apartment structure fire on a nearly 100 degree day.
He was exiting the structure for a break when he collapsed. He was
transported to Topeka Hospital where he was pronounced.
Our brother Anthony leaves behind his wife Karrie, his son U.S. Marine
Derek Cox, and his daughters Morgan and Baylee. Karrie is also pregnant
with their fourth child who is expected in December. A visitation will
be held for Anthony on Sunday August 19, 2007 12-6PM at the Southwest
Chapel of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held for
Anthony on Monday August 20, 2007 9AM at the Kansas Expocentre followed
by internment at Mount Hope Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established
