Our condolences to the Roberts family and the Baltimore City Fire Service of Baltimore, Maryland. FireFighter Allan Roberts, 42, a 19 year veteran with the Baltimore City Fire Service died Tuesday October 10, 2006. Allan, assigned to Truck 26, was battling an early morning two-alarm rowhouse fire on South Macon Street in the Greektown neighborhood, when the second floor partially collapsed, trapping Allan and two other firefighters. A RIT team was able to rescue the trapped firefighters. They were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where Allan later died. The two other firefighters suffered minor burns. Two civilians who jumped from the second floor were also injured during the blaze.

     Allan was a decorated firefighter. Allan was recognized with the Exemplary Performance Award, an award given to a member for displaying outstanding proficiency in the performance of an emergency, in 1994 for saving the life of an infant who he rescued from a crib in a basement fire. Allan also served in the Information Technology Division for nine months when the department began to build it's IT Division.

     Our brother Allan leaves behind his wife, Teresa, and his four children, Samantha (13), Katie (11), Jake (5), and Danny (18 months). A viewing for Allan will be held Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15, 2006 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home in Baltimore. A funeral for Allan will be held on Monday October 16, 2006 10:30AM at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore. Internment will follow church services at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Timonium.
