Our condolences to the Bennett family and the Cambridge Fire
Department of Massachusetts. Lieutenant Barry Bennett, 49,
an 18 year veteran of the Cambridge Fire Department died Sunday
November 2, 2003. Barry was inadvertently punctured by a
needle at a medical emergency in 1987 while working as a
firefighter on the Rescue Company. He was diagnosed with
Hepatitus-C and began treatment and observation. He was
promoted in 1998 to Lieutenant and was able to continue
working until 2003. He received a liver transplant in May of
2003 but succumbed to his illness in November.
Our brother Barry leaves behind his wife, Jane, and his three
sons, Zachary, Christopher, and Andrew. A visitation will be
held for Barry on Wednesday November 5, 2003 4-8PM at
DeVito Funeral Home in Watertown, Mass. A funeral ceremony
will be held for Barry on Thursday November 6, 2003 11-12 noon.
