Our condolences to the Lovrien family and the Los Angeles Fire
Department of California. FireFighter Brent Lovrien, 35, a 10
year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department, died Wednesday
March 26, 2008. Brent had responded with Engine 95 to a report
of smoke and an explosion near the Water and Power Community
Credit Union. Brent and Fire Engineer Anthony Guzman were
injured when a power saw was started to cut through a metal door
in an electrical vault. The saw ignited gases that had built up
in the vault and caused the secondary explosion. Brent was
transported to Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center where
passed away shortly after. Anthony was transported to UCLA
Medical Center in Westwood, where he underwent surgery for
bone fractures and facial trauma. One civilian was also injured
in the first explosion.
Our brother Brent leaves behind his parents and his brother.
A candlelight vigil for Brent will be held on Thursday April 3,
2008 5PM at Fire Station 5 in Los Angeles. A public memorial
service for Brent will be held on Friday April 4, 2008 9:30AM
at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.
After the public service there will be a private memorial
service for family at the Calvary Chapel in Downey, followed
by internment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whitter.
