Fallen Brothers» Bryan Zollner

Line of Duty Death      Our condolences to the Zollner family and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Chief Bryan Zollner, 44, the North Region Staff Chief of Operations for the CDF and 26 year veteran of many California fire agencies, died Thursday April 12, 2007. Bryan was traveling east on State Road 44 in icy conditions near Redding in Lassen County. He was killed when his CDF Ford Expedition left the roadway and struck a tree.

Bryan was a third generation firefighter, his father was Fire Chief for the Oroville Fire Department, and his grandfather was a firefighter for the Detroit Fire Department. Bryan started his career in the Butte Unit of the CDF. During his career he also served the Oroville FD, CDF Fresno-Kings Unit, Yuba City FD, CDF Santa Clara Unit, Ramona Air Attack Base in San Diego, and the CDF Riverside Unit. In 2001 he became a Deputy Chief for the Public Education Office for the CDF in Sacramento. In 2002 he served as Deputy Chief for Conservation Camp Coordination and North Ops Operations. In 2005 he was promoted to Assistant Chief Operations in the Tehama Glenn Unit. His current assignment was made in 2006 to Northern Region Operations Staff Chief. In 1998 he was decorated with the Medal of Valor for an off-duty rescue of a child from a structure fire in Riverside.

Our brother Bryan leaves behind his wife Pam, his son Ty, and his daughter Alexia Moore. A funeral for Bryan will be held on Thursday April 19, 2007 11AM at the Big League Dreams Sports Park in Redding. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be to either of these charities:
