Our condolences to the Adams family and the Springfield Fire
Department of Springfield, Florida. Fire Chief Chris Adams, 40,
a veteran of the Springfield Fire Department, died Tuesday January
16, 2007. While on duty at city hall, Chris collapsed after
suffering a heart attack caused by a blood clot in his chest. He was
rushed to Bay Medical Center where he later died.
Chris followed in his fathers footsteps, William Adams, becoming
a volunteer firefighter for the Springfield Fire Department until
he was certified and began serving the city full-time. He was
promoted through the ranks to Captain until he was selected by the
mayor to become Fire Chief in 2004. Since then he has worked
diligently to upgrade the department and community by obtaining
grants for new equipment, vehicles, and training for his brother
firefighters.
Our brother Chris leaves behind his wife, Darline, and his two
daughters, Heather, 17, and Hollie, 13. A visitation will be held
for Chris on Thursday January 18, 2007 5-8PM at Heritage Funeral Home
in Panama City. A funeral will be held for Chris on Friday January
19, 2007 2PM at Springfield Community Church in Springfield,
followed by internment at Lynn Haven Cemetery in Lynn Haven. A
college scholarship memorial fund has been established for his
daughters and donations can be made to:
