Our condolences to the Birchmore family and the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department of Vermont. FireFighter Clarence Birchmore, 60, a 35 year veteran of the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, died Saturday, March 16, 2002. Clarence was responding to a fire call when he suffered a heart attack. He was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center where he later died.

     Clarence spent many years as town moderator in Whiting and also served as grand juror. He was also a longtime member of the Addison County Firefighters.

     Clarence is survived by his wife, two sons, Chris and Kevin, and his daughter Angela. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 20, 2002 at 11AM at the Whiting Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department.
