Our condolences to the Davis family, the California Department of
Forestry, and Idaho Helicopters Inc. of Boise. Pilot Dennis Davis,
61, a veteran helicopter pilot working under contract with Idaho
Helicopters for the CDF, died Monday July 23, 2007. Dennis was
delivering drinking water to firefighters battling the Elk Fire
Complex in Kalamath National Forest when his 1968 Bell 205A-1
helicopter crashed in extremely rugged terrain.
Dennis was flying the civilian version of the UH-1 Huey he flew as
a medivac pilot serving in Vietnam. He was also a pilot for Saint
Alphonsus Regional Medical Center of Boise, Idaho.
Our brother Dennis leaves behind his wife Vicki and his two daughters.
