Our condolences to the Michael family and the Russell Fire Company of
Pennsylvania. President Darrell Michael, 60, a 42 year member of the Russell Fire
Company died Monday November 3, 2003. Darrell was at the station on standby
preparing for a fundraiser on Friday October 24, 2003. He was discovered at the
bottom of a ladder with head injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital. Darrell was
removed from life support 10 days later.
Darrell joined the Russell Fire Company in 1961 and served in many positions during
his life long membership including Ambulance Secretary for 17 years, Fire Chief from
1975-1985, and he was elected President in 2002.
Our brother Darrell leaves behind his wife Kathy and his four daughters. A viewing
will be held for Darrell on Thursday November 6, 2003 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A funeral
will be held for Darrell on Friday November 7, 2003 10AM at Russell United Methodist
Church in Russell. A memorial fund has been established in Darrel's honor. Donations
