Our condolences to the Nightingale family and the Foster City Fire
Department of California. Captain Daniel Nightingales, 35, a 14 year
veteran of the Foster City Fire Department died Monday July 21,
2003. Dan died tragically in a car accident while on vacation with
his family. Dan was traveling with his wife, Lauriann and their two
young children, Ashley, 5, and Danny Jr., 2, to a camping trip when
their vehicle and trailer that he was towing overturned, killing him
instantly.
Dan joined the Foster City Fire Department in 1989 as a firefighter
and became one of Foster City’s first firefighter/paramedics in
1998. In March 2002, Dan was promoted to Fire Captain. Over the
years he had been involved in several special projects for the
department, the contract negotiation committees, and the
Firefighters Association. He was also greatly involved in organizing
the firehouse’s annual Christmas parties, firefighter retirement parties
and a variety of fundraisers including those for the widows and
orphans fund.
Dan was laid to rest at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma,
