Our condolences to the Speed family and the Caddo Parish
Fire District #2 of Shreveport, Louisiana. FireFighter Eric
Speed, 33, a 12 year volunteer of the Caddo Parish Fire District
#2, died Friday March 28, 2008. Eric was responding to a mobile
home fire in a neighboring District #1 when the 3,000 gallon
tanker he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree, and
overturned into a ditch. He was trapped in the wreckage for
45 minutes before he was extricated and airlifted to LSU
Hospital in Shreveport where he was pronounced on arrival.
Our brother Eric leaves behind his mother Linda, his brother
Corey, his three daughters Erica (14), Teara (12), and Shaterica
(10), and his son Eric (8). A visitation for Eric will be held
on Friday April 4, 2008 5PM at Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church in
Shreveport. A funeral service for Eric will be held on Saturday
April 5, 2008 11AM at the church followed by a burial at Round
Grove Cemetery in Shreveport. A memorial fund has been
