Our condolences to the Allbritton family and the Columbus Fire Department of Mississippi. Engineer Gerald Allbritton, 45, an
18 year veteran of the Columbus Fire Department died Wednesday May 29, 2002. Gerald had returned to his bunk at
station 4 after an ems run at about 2AM. The following morning his brother firefighters were unable to wake him. The
cause of death is believed to be heart failure.
Gerald was one of the town's first certified firefighters and had twice been named Firefighter of the Year by his peers. Our
brother Gerald leaves behind his wife Donna, a son Darren, and a daughter Jenna. A funeral was held Friday May 31, 2002
at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Internment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A memorial college fund has been
