Our condolences to the Taylor family, the Jefferson Parish Fire
District No. 3 and the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department of
Louisiana. FireFighter Glyn Taylor, 43, a volunteer firefighter
with the Jerfferson Parish Fire District No. 3 died Monday
December 29, 2003. Glyn was traveling with other firefighters
to a night training exercise in five apparatus westbound on
South Frontage Road. A battery cover fell off one of the
apparatus and several men had gone to retrieve it and were
returning to the apparatus when Glyn was struck by two
eastbound automobiles. He was wearing coveralls and a jacket
with no reflective tape. Glyn was airlifted to Lake Charles
Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Air Medical where he
died shortly after.
Our brother Glyn leaves behind his wife Tammy. Visitation
for Glyn will be held Wednesday December 31, 2003 11AM-
10PM and Thursday January 1, 2004 8AM-2PM followed by
a funeral at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh followed by a
burial in Lacassine Cemetery. A memorial fund has been
