Our condolences to the Williams family and the Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department of North Carolina. FireFighter Gerald Williams, 60, a 12 year veteran of the Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department died Tuesday September 30, 2003. Gerald was sleeping at the fire station after having participated in hose training when he suffered a heart attack and died.

     Gerald was an active firefighter until a year ago when he became a fire department traffic officer. The Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department suffered a line of duty death only 2 months ago on July 28, 2003 when FireFighter Randy Jones died in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a call.

     A visitation will be held for Gerald on Thursday October 2, 2003 7-8:30PM at Union Chapel Church in Statesville. A funeral service will be held for Gerald on Friday October 3, 2003 4PM at Union Chapel Church in Statesville followed by a burial at the church cemetery.
