Our condolences to the Wohl family and the Congers Volunteer
Fire Department of New York. FireFighter George Wohl, 59, a
34 year veteran and Former Vice President of the Congers
Volunteer Fire Department died Saturday December 13, 2003.
George was working on a ladder at his home when he fell after
receiving a fire dispatch. His wife alerted emergency services
and he was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla
where he later died.
George's two sons, John and George III, are also members of
the Congers Volunteer Fire Department. His wife Kathryn is
active in the Ladies' Auxilliary, his father was also a volunteer,
and his brother is a Congers Fire Commissioner.
Our brother George leaves behind his wife, Kathryn and his
two sons, John and George III. A visitation for George was
held on Wednesday December 17, 2003 2-4PM and 7-9PM at
T.J. McGowan Funeral Home in Congers. A funeral will be held
for George on Friday December 19, 2003 10AM at Saint Paul's
Church in Rockland Lake followed by a burial at Gethsemane
Cemetery in Rockland Lake. A memorial fund has been
