Fallen Brothers» Letter of Appreciation - Jamie Annes
So many of you were such a major part of Michael's life. I want to
thank you for all you've done to help us through this difficult time.
When I first received the call that Michael had fallen from a roof
and died, I absolutely couldn't believe it. For so many years, while working construction, I
was so afraid of that call.
Michael's dream in life was to become a fireman and after so many
years he finally achieved his dream. He became part of a family brotherhood. People would ask
me if I was afraid of the dangers of him being a fireman. I would tell them no. I felt safe
and secure knowing that he was never alone. All of you were right there with him to support
and lend a hand if needed. You would always be there for him.
I am so thankful that you were there for Michael and us, after his
death. From the very beginning, just minutes after I found out, the support from the fire
department was here, helping, offering comfort, love and support. In the days after Michael's
death, the special services unit was so helpful in making the very difficult decisions.
Michael's funeral and wake were such an emotional time for us. Christopher, Stephanie, and I
will never forget the overwhelming honor and respect he was given. We are so proud Michael was
a part of such a special group of people.
Thank you to the Fireman's Aid for the reception after the funeral,
and to all who have given donations towards the children's fund. We are so grateful and
appreciative of all that you've done for us.
