Our condolences to the Ivy family and the Nacogdoches Fire Department
of Texas. Captain Joe Ivy, 51, a 33 year veteran of the Nacogdoches
Fire Department, died Saturday April 28, 2007. Joe and four other
Captains were attending a high-rise fire training session when he fell
ill early in the morning after his arrival and was transported to
Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster where he passed away
from a heart attack.
Joe came from a family of firemen. His brother, Danny, and his cousins,
Ricky and Terry, are all members of the Nacogdoches Fire Department.
He was Captain of the Ladder Truck at Fire Station 1 on North Street.
Our brother Joe leaves behind his wife Cindy, his son Blake, and his
daughter Molly. A vistation will be held for Joe on Monday April 30,
2007 5-7PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. A funeral for Joe will
be held on Tuesday May 1, 2007 at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church followed
by internment at Linn Flat Cemetery in Trawick. In lieu of flowers,
