Our condolences to the Mangum family and the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department of Maryland. FireFighter/EMT Justin Mangum, 20, a 3 year veteran of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department died Monday December 16, 2002. Justin was responding to a motor vehicle extrication call in his personal vehicle when he was involved in a one vehicle accident at 4:30 AM. EMS was first on the scene of the accident and pronounced him. A neighboring fire department responded to the scene to extract him from the vehicle.

Justin joined the Mechanicsville Rescue Squad in 1999 and the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department in 2001. His father was a firefighter for 18 years. His brother is also a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department.

A viewing will be held for Justin Thursday December 19, 2002 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department followed by a prayer service. A funeral will be held for Justin December 20, 2002 10AM at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department follwed by a burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf.
