Jeff Trota Family Fund
Fire Driver Joseph 'Jeff' Trota was a Waterbury Firefighter who sadly passed away at
45 years of age after a long hard fight against cancer. Jeff was a loving and dedicated
family man to his wife Diane of 20 years, his son Josh (19), and his daughters, Danielle
(17), and Karly (12). He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an
inspiration to them all. Please help us provide his family with some much needed financial
assistance. We are selling memorial T-shirts in an effort to help them. Donations will
also be accepted. Please make checks payable to 'The Trota Family Fund'. Do not send cash.
Thank you for your help in advance from Jeff’s family and friends.

Jeff died with 21 years seniority. During the first 17 years that he served on the
Waterbury Fire Department, firefighters were pension eligible after 20 years of service.
In 2001, with 3 years remaining to become eligible, 5 years were added to the minimum
service required to become fully vested. Jeff was diagnosed with cancer soon thereafter.
He passed away in May 2005. In 3 years, Jeff's family will receive about half of his
pension, which is about 25% of a firefighter's salary. They will receive no payment
until then. Please help them.
Thank you, Engine 8 and the Waterbury FireFighters
