Our condolences to the Tynan family and the Brookline Fire Department of Massachusetts. FireFighter Joseph Tynan Jr., 55,
a veteran of the Brookline Fire Department died Wednesday May 8, 2002. Joseph died from septic shock and chronic
traumatic brain injury as a result of a fall from an apparatus while responding to an alarm on November 23, 1982.
Joseph had been on the care of his sister and guardian. He joined the Brookline Fire Department in 1072 at Fire Station 1.
He was a member of the department's Honor Guard and had received a commendation for his actions at a rescue scene.
He earned his Associate Degree in Fire Science in 1978 at Massasoit Community College. Joseph also served in the Air Force
and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Our brother Joseph leaves behind serveal brothers and sisters and his two sons Joseph (30) and Gregory (28). Visiting hours
for Jospeh were held on Saturday May 11, 2002 7-11PM and Sunday May 12, 2002 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Bell O'Dea Funeral
Home in Brookline. A funeral mass was held Monday May 13, 2002 10AM at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Brookline.
