Our condolences to the Firment family and the Marguerite Volunteer
Fire Company of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Captain Keith Firment, 35,
an 18 year veteran of the Marguerite Volunteer Fire Company died
Thursday Januray 22, 2004. Keith felt ill at his home after responding
to a fire call on Wednesday January 21, 2004. He was treated at a
local hospital before being transported to UPMC Presbyterian in
Pittsburgh where he died shortly after.
Keith was from a family of firefighters, his grandfather, Michael
Gumbita, and father, George Firment, preceded him as a member
of the Marguerite Volunteer Fire Company. Michael Gumbita was
one of the early chiefs of the department, founded in the 1930s.
Keith's brother, Kevin Firment, recently retired as the department
chief.
Our brother Keith leaves behind his wife and five children from
five to eighteen years old. Visitation for Keith will be held for
Keith on Sunday January 25, 2004 3-5PM and 7-9PM and the
same hours on Monday January 26, 2004 at Gaut-Bacha Funeral
Home in Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland County. A funeral will be
held for Keith on Tuesday January 27, 2004 11AM at Saint
Benedicts Church in Marguerite with internment following at
Unity Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established and
