Our condolences to the Reed family and the Oakland Fire Department
of Oakland, California. Lieutenant Kevin Reed, 47, a 16 year veteran
of the Oakland Fire Department, died Saturday January 20, 2007.
Kevin had responded to a structure fire during the evening of Friday
January 19th. The following morning, after his shift, he collapsed and
died while working out at a downtown gym from an apparent heart attack.
Kevin was stationed at North Oakland Station No. 8, was an active
executive board member of IAFF Local 55, and was a member of the
department softball team.
Our brother Kevin leaves behind his wife, Debbie, and his 9 year-old
daughter, Jessica. A vigil service for Kevin will be held Thursday
January 25, 2007 7PM at St. Jerome Catholic Church in El Cerrito. A
funeral liturgy will be held for Kevin on Friday January 26, 2007
11AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Berkeley. Internment
will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito. A memorial fund has
