4/20/01 Attention WFD Members

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of James Gannon, who retired from the Waterbury Fire Department in 1990 and spent 19 years with the department. James retired from the Navy in 1973, serving as a boatsman, warrant officer, and a navy seal. A mass will be held Monday April 22, 2002 11AM at St. Josephs, Route 103 in Chester, Vermont.

4/8/01 Local 1339 - A Call to Action

Captain Jim Peplau, of the Waterbury Fire Department Bureau of Instruction and Training, has asked me to post some information on the website regarding 2 upcoming bills that we would like to see passed. The first one would remove some of the strong labor provisions given to the State Oversight Board, essentially giving us back NEUTRAL third party arbitration. The second would prohibit the City from diminishing or eliminating the rights and benefits of municipal retirees.
I have created a page with a letter from Jim explaining the bills in more detail, as well as some sample letters that can be emailed to a provided list of House Representatives, Senators, the Waterbury Delegation, the Planning and Development Committee, and supporters of the proposed bills. 4/7/01 Attention WFD Members

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of John Ariola, father of Waterbury Fire Department Deputy Fire Marshal Pat Ariola. A wake will be held Monday, April 8, 2002 between 5-8PM at the Collossantos Funeral Home at Washington and Bank Street. A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. For more information, contact Lt. McAllister at Northside.

4/3/02 Attention WFD Members Local 1339

The regular meeting of Local 1339 will be held Thursday April 11, 2002 1900 hours, at Headquarters. At this meeting it will be decided if the local will attend the IAFF Convention in August. If the membership votes to attend, nominations for delegates and alternates will be opened.
Also, nominations for President, Secretary, and four Executive Board positions will be opened - Mike Bergin, Fran Walsh, Daniel French, and Coral Barnes.
