Our condolences to the Soderquist family and the Axtell Volunteer
Fire Department of Nebraska. FireFighter Leo Soderquist, 64, a 36
year veteran of the Axtell Volunteer Fire Department, died Friday
December 1, 2006. After returning to the fire station after an early
morning structure fire, Leo suffered a heart attack. He was transported
to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney where he died shortly after.
Leo was a second generation firefighter, joining the department in
1969. His son Shawn is also a firefighter.
Our brother Leo leaves behind his wife Linda, his sons, Shawn and Ryan,
and his daughter, Michelle. A visitation was held for Leo on Sunday
December 3, 2006 3-5PM and 7-8PM at Freeland-Craig Funeral Home in
Axtell. A funeral will be held for Leo on Monday December 4, 2006 2PM
at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell followed by a burial at Pleasant
Hill Cemetery in Axtell.
