Our condolences to the Casey family and the Mount Horeb Fire
Department of Wisconsin. Merlin Casey, 66, a 22 year veteran of
Mount Horeb Fire Department and a 27 year veteran of the
Emergency Medical Service died Saturday May 10, 2003. Merlin
was the driver of an ambulance on an EMS call for a woman with
abdominal pain. He was found slumped over the wheel from an
apparent heart attack by EMTs returning to the ambulance with
the woman. Merlin was rushed to Madison Hospital where he was
pronounced dead.
Merlin was an Air Force Veteran. He was a retired art teacher and
taught at Mount Horeb School for 30 years. He was 'practically a
charter member' of the EMT unit at Mount Horeb Fire Department,
joining during the first year in 1976 and also served as the
Department Treasurer.
Our brother Merlin leaves behind his wife, Grace, and his children
Heather and Alicia, and his grandson Cole. A memorial gathering
for Merlin will be held Wednesday May 14, 2003 4-7PM at Ellestad
Funeral Home in Mount Horeb. A memorial service for Merlin will be
held Thursday May 15, 2003 11AM at Mount Horeb Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Mount Horeb followed by a lunch at Mount
Horeb Fire Station in Mount Horeb.
