Our condolences to the DePauw family and the Dallas Fire Department of Texas. Captain Michael DePauw, 51, a 30 year veteran of the Dallas Fire Department died Thursday December 5, 2002. Michael was operating on the second floor of a large two story structure fire when he collapsed after an apparent heart attack. He was transported to Medical City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The structure fire was in north Dallas. Less than 10 minutes after arrival the fire was through the roof and upgraded to a second alarm. The fire was caused by an electrical short in the attic. 40 firefighters responded to the scene and the fire was brought under control in a half hour.

Our brother Michael leaves behind a wife and 5 children. A viewing will be held for Michael on Monday December 9, 2002 5-9PM at Blue Bonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville. A funeral service for Michael will be held Tuesday December 10, 2002 11AM at Richland Hills Church of Christ in Richland Hills. Burial will follow from Blue Bonnet Funeral Home at Blue Bonnet Hill Memorial Park in Colleyville. A reception will be held at Fort Worth Fire Fighters Association Local 440 Union Hall in Fort Worth following the graveside service.
