Our condolences to the Hays family and the Brazos Canyon Volunteer
Fire Department of Chama, New Mexico. Fire Chief Michael Hays, 64,
a 9 year veteran of the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department,
died Tuesday February 19, 2008. Michael had recently retired as
Fire Chief. While visiting the fire station to perform duties
related to the tranisiton to the new chief, Michael passed
away from injuries sustained when there was an explosion at the
fire station. The cause of the explosion is being investigated,
but a gas leak is the initial suspect.
Our brother Michael leaves behind his wife Ramona. A funeral
service for Michael will be held on Monday February 25, 2008
10AM at El Mason Church (Assembly of God Church) in Chama.
Burial will follow 3PM at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. A
