Our condolences to the Hubly family and the Kankakee Township
Fire Protection District of Illinois. Fire Chief Matthew Hubly,
43, a 16 year veteran of the Kankakee Township Fire Protection
District, died Thursday February 7, 2008. Matthew had been
shoveling snow at the fire station prior to attending a meeting
regarding fire protection at an industrial facility. At the
facility he became warm and diaphoretic. The Assistant Chief
convinced him to let him take him to the hospital, but he became
unresponsive before leaving the facility. He was transported to
Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee where he arrived in full
cardiac arrest. He was revived but succumbed to his injuries six
days later.
Our brother Matthew leaves behind his wife Debra, and his sons
Aaron and Noah. A visitation for Matthew will be held on Friday
February 15, 2008 3PM at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Kankakee.
A funeral service for Matthew will be held on Saturday February
16, 2008 10AM at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee.
