Fallen Brothers» Mark Miller

Line of Duty Death      Our condolences to the Miller family and the Laconia Fire Department of New Hampshire. FireFighter Mark Miller, 43, an 18 year veteran of the Laconia Fire Department died Thursday March 11, 2004. Mark was training with a new set of dive suits off the main dock at Weirs Bay. His partner, JP Hobby, and himself had given the thumbs up to surface but JP was the only one who did. He resubmerged but was unable to find Mark.

Mark was a member of the National Association of Search and Rescue, the International Association of Dive Rescue Specialists, and a foster parent for Northeast Bloodhound Rescue. He was a Master SCUBA Diver, a Public Safety Diver, a Nitrox Diver, a Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Technician Level III, a SCUBA Rescue Diver, a Certified Ice Diver and a Dry Suit Diver. He was also the head of the Laconia Fire Department's dive team.

Our brother Mark leaves behind his wife Gayle and his three daughters Shauna, Alyson, and Kelsey. Calling hours will be held for Mark on Tuesday March 16, 2004 2-4PM and 6-9PM at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mark on Wednesday March 17, 2004 11AM at Our Lady of The Lakes Church in Lakeport with a burial to follow at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia.
