Our condolences to the Stanfield family and the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department of Burlington, North Carolina. Captain Michael Stanfield, 30, a 12 year veteran of the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department, died Monday September 10, 2007. Michael had responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in his privately owned vehicle. When the department cleared the scene, Michael and one other firefighter exchanged vehicles to return to the station. While returning, he lost control of the motorcycle he was operating, which left the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to the hospital but passed away shortly after.

     Our brother Michael leaves behind his parents, his brother, and his fiancee Heather Vernon. A viewing will be held for Michael on Thursday September 13, 2007 6-8PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington. A funeral service will be held for Michael on Friday September 14, 2007 3PM at Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church in Elon. A memorial fund has been established and donations can be made to:
