Our condolences to the Will family and the California Department
of Forestry and Fire Protection. FireFighter Matthew Will, 30, a
4 year veteran of the CDF and heavy equipment operator assigned
to Hollister Air Attack Base in the San Benito Monterey Unit, died
Tuesday October 9, 2007. Matthew was creating a firebreak with a
bulldozer on a steep slope at the Colorado Fire in Monterey County
when the bulldozer overturned and tumbled down Garrapata Ridge. He
was airlifted to San Jose Regional Medical Center where he died
shortly after from his injuries.
Our brother Matthew leaves behind his wife Diane, his son Trysten
(10), and his daughter Elsie (8). Funeral arrangements and memorial
information will be posted when it is released.
