Our condolences to the Davila family, the International Association of
Firefighters and the United States Air Force. IAFF 16th District Vice
President Nick Davila, 55, a veteran federal firefighter and union
representative died Thursday January 30, 2003. Nick was killed in an
off-duty traffic accident near San Antonio, Texas.
Nick Davila was serving his second term on the IAFF Executive Board as 16th
District IAFF Vice President after a long career as a federal fire fighter at Kelly
Air Force Base. He previously held the position of President of Local F-89,
which represents firefighters at Kelly Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston,
Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base.
Brother Davila also served as the IAFF's liaison officer to the Air Force
Material Command, was Vice-President of the Federal Fire Fighters Joint
Council, and served as an IAFF state representative. He was a Navy veteran
who served two combat tours in Vietnam.
A wake will be held for Nick on Monday February 3, 2003 5:30-9:30PM at the
Mission San Jose Church in San Antonio. A funeral will be held for Nick on
Tuesday February 4, 2003 9AM at the Mission San Jose Church in San Antonio
followed by a procession from the church to the interment site at Fort Sam
Houston National Cemetery will follow.
