Our condolences to the Swander family and the Ohio City Fire
Department of Ohio. Fire Chief Paul Swander, 74, an over 50
year volunteer member of Ohio City Fire Department, died Saturday
February 2, 2008. On Thursday January 31, 2008 Paul was found
by his son, unconcious at the foot of the ladder to the loft in
the fire station. It is believed he was refueling the generator
in anticipation of a forecasted winter storm when he fell. He was
taken to Van Wert County Hospital and then flown to Parkview
Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne where he passed away two days later.
Our brother Paul leaves behind his sons Darrell, Tony and Paul.
A visitation for Paul will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2008
2-8PM at Cowan and Son Funeral Home in Convoy. A funeral service
for Paul will be held on Thursday February 7, 2008 1PM at Calvary
Evangelical Church in Van Wert.
