Our condolences to the Townsend family and the Denison Fire
Department of Denison, Texas. FireFighter Phillip Townsend, 31,
a member of the Denison Fire Department for just over a year,
died Saturday December 30, 2006. Phillip was operating at a strip mall
structure fire when the awning of Wilbanks Air Conditioning and Appliance
store collapsed on Denison Fire Chief Gordan Weger and Phillip. After
being rescued from the collapse, both firefighters were transported to
Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Phillip died shortly after while Chief
Weger was treated and released.

Phillip was a second generation firefighter, his father is also a member
of the Denison Fire Department. Phillip served in the U.S. Army for 2
years before joining the Denison Fire Department on December 1, 2005.
He was also studying to become a certified paramedic.

Our brother Phillip leaves behind his father Larry Townsend, his mother
Sherry Richardson, and his three young children, Maddox, Tristen, and
Rylen. A wake will be held for Phillip on Monday January 1, 2007 7-9PM
at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison with a firefighter walk through at
7:30PM. A funeral will be held for Phillip on Tuesday January 2, 2007
1PM at Truth Tabernacle in Denison. In lieu of flowers the family has
asked that memorial donations be made to:
