Our condolences to the Allen family and the Tar Heel Volunteer Fire
Department of Tar Heel, North Carolina. Lieutenant Ronald Allen Jr., 36,
an 18 year veteran of the Tar Heel Volunteer Fire Department died Friday
September 22, 2006. Ron was in front of his vehicle spray painting the
road surface indicating hydrant locations on Highway 87 when his brush
truck was struck from behind, crushing him. He was pronounced dead at the
scene.
Ron was instrumental in the founding of the Tar Heel Volunteer Fire
Department, joining as a teenager. He was also a member of the Board of
Directors. When not serving his community Ron was a corrections officer
for a state prison, and a bible school teacher.
Our brother Ron leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, his daughters, Allison
and Cheyanne, and his son, Cody. A visitation for Ron was held Sunday
September 24, 2006 at the Tar Heel Baptist Church. A funeral service was
held for Ron on Monday September 25, 2006 4PM at the Tar Heel Fire
Department follwed by a burial at the Tar Heel Baptist Church Cemetery.
