Our condolences to the Barrett family, the West Milford
Township Fire Department, and the Apshawa Volunteer Fire
Company #1 of West Milford, New Jersey. FireFighter Raymond
Barrett, 62, a 31 year veteran of the Apshawa Volunteer Fire
Company #1, died Sunday March 9, 2008. Raymond was operating
a hoseline with his son Wayne at a kitchen fire when he
suffered an apparent heart attack. He was transported to
Chilton Memorial Hospital but was unable to be resuscitated.

Raymond was a past Fire Chief of the Apshawa Fire Company. He
also served his country in the U.S. Army, having been decorated
with the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge,
and the New Jersey Vietnam Service Medal for his service in Vietnam.

Our brother Raymond leaves behind his wife Elaine, and his sons
Wayne and Tim. A visitation for Raymond will be held on Thursday
March 13, 2008 2-6PM at M. John Scanlon Funeral Home in Pompton
Plains. A funeral service for Raymond will be held Friday March
13, 2008 10AM at Echo Lake Baptist Church in West Milford followed
by an internment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ
Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, the family
has requested that memorial donations be made to:
