Our condolences to the Beddia and Graffagnino families, and the Fire
Department of New York City. FireFighter Robert Beddia, 53, a 23 year
veteran of the FDNY, assigned to Engine 24, and FireFighter Joseph
Graffagnino, 34, an 8 year veteran of the FDNY, assigned to Ladder 5,
died Saturday August 18, 2007. Robert and Joseph were operating on the
14th floor of the Deutsche Bank Building, a vacant 40-story high-rise
on the south side of Ground Zero adjacent to the FDNY Ten House, when
they became trapped in 'maze-like' conditions and were overcome after
running out of air. They were rescued and transported to NY Downtown
Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries shortly after. The
seven-alarm fire drew over 250 firefighters from 70 companies and was
brought under control after 8 hours.

A visitation will be held for Joseph on Tuesday August 21, 2007 2-5PM
and 7-10PM at Andrew Torregrossa & Sons Funeral Home in Brooklyn. A
funeral will be held for Joseph on Thursday August 23, 2007 10AM at St.
Ephrem's Church in Brooklyn.

A visitation will be held for Robert on Wednesday August 22, 2007 2-5PM
and 7-9PM at Harmon Funeral Home in Staten Island. A funeral will be held
for Robert on Friday August 23, 2007 9:45AM at St. Patrick's Cathedral in
New York.
