Richard Cusson, 32, a 4 year veteran of the South Killingly Volunteer Fire Department died Sunday June 30, 2002. Richard
was responding with his personal vehicle to a lumberyard fire when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Richard was ejected and died at the scene.
Richard apparently did not have his pager and was unaware of the fire. He was driving through town when he saw the blaze
at the Tripp Lumber Company. The accident occured while he was responding from the fire station with his gear. Richard
came from a family of firefighters. His father Edmond Senior is the Fire Police Captain. His brother Edmond Junior is the
Assistant Chief. A sister-in-law, niece and nephew are also involved with the department.
Calling hours for Richard will be Tuesday July 2, 2002 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Tillinghast Funeral Home in Danielson. A funeral
will be held Wednesday Juy 3, 2002 10AM beginning with a procession from Tillinghast Funeral Home to Sacred Heart
Cemetery in Webster, Massachusetts. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to:
