Our condolences to the Feeney family and the Long Branch, New Jersey Fire Department. FireFighter Robert Feeney,
41, a 20 year veteran of the Long Branch Voluneer Fire Department died Wednesday, January 16, 2002. Robert was
responding to a structure fire in a three story home. While connecting a five-inch supply line, he collapsed. EMS on the
scene began CPR and he was transported to Monmouth Medical Center where he later died.
Robert was a member of the Phil Daly Hose Co. # 2, had been among those who started a Boy Scout Fire Explorer program
and was attending a meeting at the station when the call came in. Explorers at the meeting also responded on the call and
witnessed their leader go down. Roberts father, Henry Feeney, was also a member, 50 years with the Phil Daly Hose Co.
Feeney was a grounds keeper at Rutgers University.
Our brother, Robert, leaves his wife Jayne, three sons, Anthony, Michael, James, and a daughter, Meghan. A memorial fund
