Our condolences to the Fuller family and the Darlington-Gaskin Volunteer Fire Department of Westville,
Florida. Firefighter Rupert Fuller, 76, a veteran of the Darlington-Gaskin Volunteer Fire Department
died Thursday October 24, 2002. Rupert had responded to an ems call on Sunday October 20, 2002,
and shortly after arriving on scene he complained that he was not feeling well. He was transported
to a hospital in Geneva, Alabama. He died days later at a hospital in Dothan where he was
transported for surgery for an aneurysm.
Rupert had operated a local country store where he had responded from since it was the only fire
apparatus in the area until he retired. The Darlington-Gaskin Volunteer Fire Department now has
two stations in the county and Rupert was very active with the department.
Our brother Rupert leaves behind his wife Ruth and his daughter Karen Rocket. A memorial funeral
was held at Darlington United Methodist Church. Rupert's casket was transported by apparatus to
the cemetery for burial.
