Our condolences to the Hegney family and the Se-Wy-Co Volunteer Fire
Company of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Lieutenant Robert Hegney, 53, a
33 year veteran of the fire service, died Saturday February 3, 2007.
Robert had worked a dwelling fire on Thursday February 1, 2007 and
complained of not feeling well later that evening. Two day later he
was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill with flu-like
symtoms. While being transferred for an angioplasty he went into cardiac
arrest and passed away.
Robert joined the fire service with Protection Engine No.1 in
Hastings-on-Hudson, New York in 1973, serving as secretary in 1975 and
1976. He then became an exempt member in 1980 with 33 years of combined
service as an active and exempt member. In 1997 he moved his family to
Lower Saucon Township and joined the Se-Wy-Co Volunteer Fire Company in
2001 and served as secretary until his death.

Our brother Robert leaves behind his wife Peggy, his son Robert, and
his daughter Alison. A visitation will be held for Robert on Tuesday
February 6, 2006 6-8PM at Heintzelman Funeral Home in Hellertown. A
funeral service will be held for Robert on Wednesday February 7, 2007
9:15AM at the funeral home followed by a 10AM funeral mass at St.
Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Reigelsville. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions can be made to:
