Our condolences to the Daugehtee family and the Highway 58 Volunteer
Fire Department of Harrison, Tennessee. FireFighter Shane Daughetee,
24, a 7 year veteran of the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department,
died Friday January 26, 2007. Shane had responded to a fully
involved structure fire at a 5,000 square foot home. During search
and rescue operations, he fell though the floor and into the
basement. A rescue attempt was initiated, but a further collapse of
the structure prevented his rescue and he perished. Four other
firefighters received minor burns and were treated at the scene.
Shane was an active member of the Highway 58 Volunteer Department.
Just last month, he was decorated as 2006 FireFighter of the Year
in December. Shane also designed and maintained the Station 2 website.
