FireFighter Steven Solomon, 33, a 4 month veteran of the Atlanta Fire
Rescue Department and 6 year veteran of the Macon-Bibb County Fire
Department, died Wednesday November 29, 2006. Steven was severely burned
at a structure fire in an abandoned building on Thankgiving Night, 6
days prior, on Elm Street in northwest Atlanta. After an evacuation
call due to extreme fire conditions, Steven was trapped and received
third degree burns to 30% of his body on his torso and legs. He was
rescued and rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he spent the next
six days in the burn unit before succumbing to his injuries.
Our brother Steven leaves behind his wife, Kennetha, and four children.
A wake will be held for Steven on Sunday December 3, 2006 4-6PM at Snow's
Memorial Chapel in Macon. A funeral will be held for Steven on Monday
December 4, 2006 1PM at the Macon Coliseum. Steven's final resting place
will be Glen Haven Memorial in Macon. A memorial fund has been established
