Our condolences to the Hays family, the Merion Fire Company, and the
Narberth Fire Company of Pennsylvania. FireFighter Thomas Hays, 25, a
7 year veteran of the Merion Fire Company, died Friday December 8, 2006.
Thomas had responded to an alarm late Thursday evening; after not
responding to 2 subsequent alarms, his brother firefighters checked on
him and discovered he had died from an epileptic seizure in his sleep.
Thomas was the Treasurer of the Active Members Club for the Merion Fire
Company and was decorated during his 7 years of service. He received the
Fireman of the Year Commendation in 2003 as well as the Rotary Club of
Ardmore award for Outstanding Contribution as a Firefighter.
Our brother Thomas leaves behind his parents Thomas and Bonnie. A
viewing will be held for Thomas on Thursday December 14, 2006 7-9PM
at McConaghy Funeral Home in Ardmore. A funeral mass will be held for
Thomas on Friday December 15, 2006 10:30AM at St. Margaret Roman
Catholic Church in Narberth, followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery
in West Conshohocken. The family has requested in lieu of flowers,
