Our condolences to the Isler and Monroe families, and the
Salisbury Fire Department of North Carolina. FireFighter
Victor Isler, 40, and FireFighter Justin Monroe, 19, both
members of the Salisbury Fire Department assigned to Squad 1,
died Friday March 7, 2008. Victor and Justin were one of the
first responding crews operating a hoseline at a five-alarm
fire at Salisbury Millwork with nearly 100 other firefighters
from many surrounding fire departments. They perished during
the hours long blaze. At least four other firefighters were
injured, though none seriously, as they tried to rescue the pair.

Our brother Victor served the Deer Park Fire Department of
New York and the FDNY prior to joining the Salisbury Fire
Department. He leaves behind his wife Tracy, his son Victor Jr.,
and his daughter Ryan-Ann. A visitation for Victor will be held
on Wednesday March 12, 2008 1-4PM at Lyerly's Funeral Home
in Salisbury.

Our brother Justin was a member of the Miller's Ferry
Volunteer Fire Department since he was 14 years old and he
also was a volunteer with the Spencer Fire Department. He
leaves behind his parents Eddie and Lisa, and his brother Mark.
A visitation for Justin will be held on Wednesday March 12,
2008 6-9PM at Miller's Ferry Fire Station near Salisbury.

A joint memorial funeral service for Victor and Justin will be
held on Thursday March 13, 2008 2PM at Omwake-Dearborn Chapel,
on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury followed by Justin's
burial at Rowan Memorial Cemetery. Victor's burial will take place
in New York State at a later date. A memorial fund has been
