Waterville Firehouse Brick Fundraiser
Waterbury Firemen's Historical Society Preserving the Past Rebuilding the Community One Brick At A Time
Erected in 1919 by Mayor Sandland's Board of Public Safety, the construction of
the Waterville Firehouse coincided with the arrival of the "horseless age" in the
Waterbury Fire Department. It housed tghe old Engine 9 and a police precinct.
One of three fire stations of similar design that year, it remained in service until
1971. The construction of the new modern Northside Station spelled its demise.
For the past thirty years the building has slipped into a state of disrepair.
Breathing new life into the old structure, the Waterbury Firemen's Historical Society is working hard to restore this grand building and fulfill its commitment to the community once again. Donating their time, talents, and energy, these firefighters have chosen to rebuild part of Waterville's history. The renovated building will house offices for the membership, and provide a community center that will host a variety of functions. You can help by installing your name on this project. The firebrick that you sponsor will help defray the cost of this historic renovation. It will be permanently displayed on the ramp that carried ol Engine 9 into the bay. The Waterbury Firemen's Historical Society has a limited amount of brick pavers available for the ramp, so please don't hesitate in placing your order. Scheduled completion of the ramp is in the Spring of 2007. You will be contacted when your paver is installed; at which time you will be extended an invitation to the Grand Openeing Ceremony at the Waterville Firehouse. The brick pavers are 4" x 8" and sponsors are allowed 3 lines of 12 characters. There are three levels of sponsorship: Individual $50, Group $75, and Corporate $100.
