Our condolences to the Bennett family and the Kennedy, New York Fire Department. Fire Chief William Bennett, 49, a
15 year veteran of the Kennedy Fire Department, located in the town of Poland, New York, died Tuesday, September
4, 2001. William was driving a command vehicle, following an ambulance on a rescue call, when he was killed in a
motor vehicle accident. There were heavy thunderstorms in the area at the time, but the cause of the accident is
unknown.
William was an active member of the department. He served as an Assistant Chief for 10 years, a Fire Commissioner
for 1 year, and as Fire Chief for the last 2 years.
Our brother, William, left a wife, Sue, and twin sons (11), and an older son away from home.
Viewing hours will be Thursday, September 6, 2001, 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Falconer Funeral Home. A memorial service
will be held Thursday, September 6, 2001, 6:45PM at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 7,
1PM in Kennedy.
